Class Today

Class today was really good. We talked about the dissertation process in Research I. I payed close attention and even recorded the lecture because I am determined to walk across the stage and get my doctoral degree.

During our leadership dynamics class, I learned about my conflict resolution style. I will reflect more on this when I get home because there are areas I would like to improve on based on my results. I am fascinated by leadership and what it really means. I thought it meant one thing, but the more I get into it, the more I realize it means something else. I know that the gift is in me, redefining what it is, is going to be a great self discovery moment.

I am a little overwhelmed however, with the process, but relieved because I understand the process better. The APA 6th edition manual, Dissertation Portable Advisor, and Educational Research will be my best friends for the next 2 1/2 years.

The good news is that I finally narrowed my dissertation to a topic I am passionate about. Primarily quality education for all students. As a young educator and pioneer, I would like to examine now, ways to change the educational landscape of education. A better education for all means a stronger economy and society for all.

Hello Rosa,
You are well on your way down the road with your positive attitude. Class was valuable to me also today in so many ways. I'm interested in adding the spiritual aspect to leadership and exploring that facet.

The dissertation does seem overwhelming, but I am comforted with the outlines we have received and I feel like I'm going in the right direction. For me, the most valuable thing was being able to work on my question in class and have the professors right there for feedback.

Thanks for starting your blog. I look forward to reading it often.

Your blog seems to be working well. One more step in an additional communication genre for scholars.

Rosa - I am glad we were able to narrow our dissertation topics a little...I was worried about us both for a minute. Thank you for your advice to me as I was whittling away at my topic.

I am looking forward to working with you and sharing resources, sites, books, etc.

I will see you soon!

Rosa- Narrowing your topic statement is a huge step. I am still trying to get mine to exactly what I want to research to find definitive answer(s).
